Postpartum Doula

Services
Free Consultation
I want you to feel secure in your decision to hire me. When we first connect, we will schedule a consultation to meet face to face. You can ask me any questions that you have, and we can make sure that I am a good fit to support you and your family. I will come with information packets, and the contract so should you feel we are a match, everything will be ready to start.

Feel free to schedule a consultation at any point during gestation, or after the baby is born. Whether you are planning ahead, or are struggling and would like the extra support immediately, we will be able to come up with a plan that works for your individual needs. Please note, availability will need to be taken into account.
Phone & Email Support
Throughout your baby's first year, many questions can arise seemingly out of nowhere. Included in our contract is the ability to reach out to me through phone, email, or text with any questions or concerns you have and I will get back to you as quickly as possible.

Please Note: I am currently only qualified to give information about postpartum topics. Though I do hope to also get certified as a Birth Doula, for the time being I only have the training for topics related to the time after birth (including time in the hospital). I am also not qualified to give medical advice, however will use my judgment- if it is a medical based question I suggest booking an appointment with your doctor.
Professional Information
Throughout our time together, I will provide you with resources for some evidence based research relating to various postpartum topics. If you would like access to some of these resources without also receiving the postpartum care, please send me an email and we will work something out.
Hospital Visit
If you have planned ahead for postpartum care, we can discuss our first visit being in the hospital. I would visit, bringing any items that you forgot to pack, and check how you and the baby are doing. We can discuss breastfeeding, umbilical cord care, techniques for bathing your baby, or any other questions that you may have. I will bring any resources you feel you might need for your first few days at home. At the end of the day, I am there for you, so if there is something that can assist you that I haven't listed, I will do what I can to get you anything you need.
At Home Visits/Care
Most of our time working together will be conducted with at home visits. These are prearranged blocks of time where I come to your home and assist you with whatever your needs are at that moment. My time there will be spent primarily "mothering the mother", and providing you the support you need to take care of and bond with your baby. But that doesn't mean I can't help other family members too!

Examples of tasks I can do:
- Answer questions and provide evidence based research about various aspects of infant care
- Take care of the baby for brief periods of time, to allow mother time to shower, nap, or take care of herself
- Give suggestions about ways to help deepen your bond with your baby
- Give suggestions about ways that other children can "help" with your baby and get involved in his/her life
- Light chores (e.g. dishes, sweeping, etc.) and errands
- Play with older children, giving parents and baby a chance to bond together one-on-one

As a Doula, I Do Not:

Perform any clinical tasks
While I am trained to be able to give information and resources, I am not a medical professional. I cannot perform any tests, physicals, or give medical advice. I can provide you with evidence-based resources, and can provide you with resources to connect with medical professionals, but cannot give advice myself.
Make decisions for you
At the end of the day, you are the parents, and it is your choice how you would like to raise and grow with your baby. I can give you carefully researched resources to help you make informed decisions, but no matter what the decisions are yours, and I will never question them.
Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience
Throughout our time together, I promise not to try to influence your decisions based on my own personal beliefs. I recognize that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and set of standards for parenting. One of the most exciting part of being a parent is how it shapes what you believe in, and I will never question your reasoning or wishes.
